TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee to appear before ED on Monday, leaves for Delhi

“I had said this in November and I stick to it. If any central agency can bring any iota of evidence against me in the public domain then I am ready to hang myself in public,” the leader said before leaving for New Delhi.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee would appear in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday (September 6). ED has summoned Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee and his wife for the interrogation in a multi-crore coal scam.

“The BJP thinks it can put pressure on us (Trinamool Congress) by using ED against us but we will emerge stronger,” Banerjee said after the summons, according to a media agency, ANI.

Abhishek Banerjee has left for New Delhi from Kolkata as he has been summoned to the national capital by the ED.

Before leaving the state he said, “I had said this in November and I stick to it. If any central agency can bring any iota of evidence against me in the public domain then I am ready to hang myself in public.”

"I am ready to face any investigation. Why aren't they putting things out in public? The case is in Kolkata, and I am being summoned to Delhi. They lost the election, so they are indulging in political vendetta. They have nothing else apart from using the probe agencies to fulfil their political goals," he added

TMC's general secretary said, “TMC won't bow down to them. We shall not sell our spine before the BJP. People will decide.”
