Tory Leadership Debate: Former Chancellor Rishi Sunak took the lead in the race for the post of Prime Minister of Britain with the highest 88 votes in the first round of voting of Conservative Party MPs, after which his discussion started getting more and more. 

With this, instead of eight candidates, six candidates are left in this race. Sunak was followed by Commerce Minister Penny Mordent with 67 votes and Foreign Minister Liz Truss with 50 votes. While former minister Kemi Badenoch got 40 votes and backbencher Tom Tugendhat got 37 votes. At the same time, 32 votes came into the account of Attorney General Suella Braverman.

During a televised debate in Britain, the last five candidates in the race for the Conservative leadership were seen fighting over their tax plans. Former UK finance minister Rishi Sunak dismissed promises of tax cuts by his rivals as an unrestricted rush to borrow and more debt. At the same time, during this, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that you cannot choose your development path.

Apart from this, Penny Mordant, a candidate in the race for PM during the debate, said that people now need help and this is not possible without a change in the tax burden. Rishi Sunak insisted that he had taken the right and tough decisions regarding the Treasury, such as increasing the national insurance for health and social care. Now the promise of tax cuts is like a fairy tale.

In a 90-minute debate on TV channels in Britain, the candidates involved in the PM's race were also asked whether Boris Johnson is an honest person or not? It was the first of three televised debates facing contestants in the race to become the leader of the Conservative Party and the next prime minister of Britain. The performance of candidates in Friday's debate could affect the way Conservative MPs vote on Monday, July 18.
