Being aware of the franchise’s reputation, anything deep or philosophical was not expected but what was really expected for fans is to kill free summer time well but alas, all hope went down the drain. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the latest attempt to revive the dying blockbuster franchise by focusing more on human drama rather than robot fights but the film fails at eliciting even an iota of emotion for the human story it tries to show. The human characters are annoying, generic and bland and have paper-thin motivations to step into action. The dialogues are cheesy and derivative which purely aim at kids under 10. The plot is straightforward and predictable with no novelty factor and no exciting reveals. The screenplay has many dull moments filled with unnecessary expositions and when the action begins, you feel nothing for the characters and just want it to get over. You don’t expect good writing from a Transformers movie at all but this fails even at the aspect which helped this franchise earn billions- action, action, and more action.

The CGI is shoddy and the robots look hideous, to say the least. Seeing a $200 million film with such an indolent attempt at creating good character models is embarrassing. Even the chroma backgrounds look obvious and this is topped with no use of 3D at all. Another funny thing about the action is that the makers try to make the viewers feel nostalgic by shoehorning 90’s hip-hop music when it doesn’t synergise well with the situation during the climactic battle. Even for all the other technical standpoints, this film has nothing to go for it with a generic background score, substandard cinematography, bad art direction, and most important, one-note performances. The voice actors are the only ones who did a decent job out of the entire cast.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts OTT release date, characters guide & everything you need to know

Overall, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is everything that is wrong with big-budget Hollywood blockbusters and even though it might satisfy the hardcore fans of the franchise or the ones who just want to go for fun, it definitely isn’t something that will stay in anyone’s mind for long. If you want to watch something fulfilling that ticks all the boxes right, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the perfect alternative so we can get more creatively fuelled blockbusters instead of corporate garbage.
