Jasveen, a resident of Kurukshetra, got married to Jagroop of Raikot in Jagraon. The girl had earned good amount of bands from IELTS. She wanted to go to Canada, but had no funds. Jagroop had money but had performed poorly on his IELTS test. After this, the relationship between the two was arranged on the agreement that Jasveen will go to Canada and then take the boy there on spouse visa.

Along with the terms of contract marriage, it was also decided that after the boy reaches Canada, the boy and the girl are free to either live together or otherwise. It will be their wish to continue the relationship further. After this, both of them got married on 4 November 2015.

Jagroop told the police that after the marriage, preparations started to send Jasveen to Canada. He bore the expenses of her shopping and tickets. Not only this, he also paid for hr education. This cost him around Rs 28 lakhs.

Jagroop told the police that Jasveen kept talking to him after going to Canada until she was staying on visa. But after a while, when she got Permanent Citizenship (PR) in Canada, she did not call him to Canada. On the contrary, she stopped talking to him less and started avoiding talking to him with excuses. She started to procrastinate on the mention of calling him to Canada.

Although Jasveen was shown absconding in the police records, the police had issued Look Out Circular (LOC) for her. As soon as she landed at Delhi airport, the immigration officers checked her documents. Then after checking with the look out circular, it was confirmed that it was Jasveen who was wanted in the Ludhiana case.
