TrueScoop Impact: FIR registered against Metropolis Lab for overcharging in RT-PCR test

FIR registered after TrueScoop News submitted evidences against the Lab and DC ordered Commissionerate Police to investigate the matter and take strict action

Taking strict action against the lab for overcharging in RTPCR test, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday registered an FIR against Shree Sai Lab C/O Metropolis Lab after TrueScoop News conducted a sting operation.

TrueScoop had submitted the audio and video evidences in which the lab in question demanded Rs 1500 for RT-PCR test, however, the state government has fixed a fee of Rs. 450 for this test.

FIR has been registered against the lab under Indian Penal Code section 188, Epidemic Disease Act, section 3 and Disaster Management Act, section 51.

Earlier, an FIR was registered against Kamal Hospital Jalandhar after TrueScoop team exposed them for overcharging for RT-PCR.

Notably, TrueScoop had also conducted sting operations at three more labs and a hospital – Dr Lal Path Lab (Doaba Chowk and Maqsuda) and Dr Asha Path Lab (Doaba Chowk),  the audio and video evidences of which are submitted with Assistant Commissioner (Grievance).

Meanwhile, District Administration Jalandhar through Assistant Commissioner (Grievance) has issued a show-cause notice to the above mentioned labs. Besides, Deputy Commissioner has asked the concerned authorities to inquire the matter and register an FIR against all these labs if allegations turn out to be true.
