Turkey Earthquake

Over 15,000 people have been killed in the massive earthquake that flattened thousands of buildings, trapping an unknown number of people in freezing weather. Rescuers are searching for survivors buried in the rubble of the massive earthquake in Turkey and Syria as rescue efforts near the crucial 72-hour mark. As per reports, the death toll is expected to rise as the rescue efforts cross the crucial 72-hour mark. More than 90 percent of earthquake survivors have been rescued within the first three days. Turkey's President Erdogan on Wednesday visited one of the hardest-hit spots, quake epicentre Kahramanmaras, and acknowledged problems in the response. Following that, talking to the media,Tayyip Erdogan has accepted the “shortcomings” and some problems.

“Of course there are shortcomings. The conditions are obvious. It is not possible to be prepared for such a disaster. We will not leave any of our citizens uncared for,” said the Turkish president while speaking about the rescue operations after the multiple earthquakes.

After Turkey’s Gaziantep province near the Syrian border was hit by a powerful earthquake, two days later rescue teams were still struggling to pull survivors from the debris in freezing temperatures. Apart from the concerns over the country’s preparedness, the latest prediction by the World Health Organization said up to 23 million people could be affected by the disaster.
