In an apocalyptic scene, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 jolted southeast Turkey and Syria early Monday, toppling buildings and creating chaos in the region. The Turkey-Syria earthquake is being called one of the worst hit natural disasters as it killed at least 195 people in both countries. Apart from killing 195, hundreds were injured in the deadly natural disaster. and the death toll is expected to increase as rescue operation is underway. Now, multiple Turkey-Syria earthquake videos are going viral on social media, and people worldwide are shocked to see the apocalyptic scene in the region. Among the various videos, a man stuck inside the rubble crying for help on a live stream is sending shockwaves around the world.

In the viral video, it can be seen the man crying for help going live on Instagram. The username is charmquell and his name is Fırat Yayla. In the video, he can be heard screaming and crying in panic and reportedly he was asking for help to his followers. Going by what netizens are saying, Yayla was rescued reportedly and his parents were still stuck. In the same thread, a man getting rescued by the authorities was shared. On being asked whether the rescued man is the same from the live stream, a user said yes he is the same man from the live-stream.

At least 130 buildings tumbled down in Turkey’s Malatya province, neighboring the epicenter, Governor Hulusi Sahin was quoted by Turkish media. In the Turkish city of Diyarbakir, at least 15 buildings collapsed. Rescue teams called for silence as they listed for survivors in a toppled 11-story building.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Twitter that “search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched” to the areas hit by the quake. After the massive death toll started to come-in, The United States White House has issues a statement saying that it was "profoundly concerned by the reports of today’s destructive earthquake in Turkiye and Syria". Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his anguish "by the loss of lives and damage of property due to the Earthquake in Turkey".

17 dead as powerful 7.8-magnitude quake hits Turkey

The earthquake struck at 04:17 am local time (0117 GMT) at a depth of about 17.9 kilometres (11 miles), the US agency said, with a 6.7-magnitude aftershock striking 15 minutes later. Turkey's AFAD emergencies service centre put the first quake's magnitude at 7.4. The earthquake was one of the most powerful to hit the region in at least a century.

Syrian state television reported that a building near Latakia, on the west coast of Syria, had collapsed. Pro-government media was quoted saying that several buildings had partially collapsed in Hama, central Syria, with civil defence and firefighters working to pull survivors out of the rubble. Raed Ahmed, who heads Syria's National Earthquake Centre, told pro-government radio as quoted by media that this was "historically, the biggest earthquake recorded in the history of the centre".
