Twitter Blue launched in India: Subscription cost, how to avail, and everything for you to know

Weeks after providing access to Twitter Blue in select countries, the company has now launched the features for its users based in India. The paid service which contained the sign of dignity and now stands in an embattled spot (the blue tick mark), implies authenticity can be subscribed for ₹650 and ₹900 per month on the website and mobile respectively.

However, those wishing to take the annual subscription on the website will be receiving ₹1000 discount and will have to pay ₹6800 instead of ₹7800.

Earlier, users could independently apply for the verified tag without needing to pay any price for it. The company on Wednesday said the feature was being rolled out in 15 countries, which includes Brazil and Indonesia among others.

Twitter Blue users will be able to edit tweets, and post longer videos, around 50% lesser traffic will be coming their profile’s way and can also access the new features beforehand. Apart from this, their tweets will also be prioritized by the company, whereas their tweets can be edited five times within 30 minutes of posting.

It is simple to access the Twitter Blue subscription which can be done just by clicking on the profile picture at the left top of your profile’s home page. Additionally, only accounts which are over 90 days old can be paid, subscribers. Twitter has asked subscribed users to not change their display picture, name or username during the time of review to avoid the loss of the verified badge. The company is yet to address the way forward for existing verified users.

However, it is pertinent to mention here the decision coming into force is against the initial call given by Twitter boss Elon Musk who said that the subscription cost will be decided based on the country’s purchasing power parity, which doesn’t seem to be the case. Website users in the US have to pay around ₹660 monthly, while Android and iOS users pay ₹910.
