Uddhav Thackeray and the NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena coalition government is most likely to face the crucial floor test in Maharashtra assembly on Saturday.

Vidhan Bhawan sources have said that Maharashtra floor test is most likely to happen on Saturday and the new Maha Vikas Aghadi government, under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray, is expected to face the floor test at 2 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray assumed charge as the Maharashtra chief minister on Friday.

Ahead of the floor test, the newly formed government is making efforts to replace protem speaker.

Governor BS Koshyari has asked Uddhav Thackeray to prove majority of the coalition government by December 3. The alliance has claimed the support of at least 162 MLAs.

Uddhav Thackeray, who is also the Shiv Sena president, was sworn-in as the chief minister on Thursday evening. The first Thackeray chief minister also presided over his government's first cabinet meeting later in the evening.

Besides Uddhav Thackeray, six other ministers - two each from Shiv Sena, Congress and the NCP - also took oath on Thursday.

NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who pulled off a major coup last week and rocked all hopes of the Maha Aghadi alliance to form the government by joining hands with Devendra Fadnavis and taking oath as the deputy chief minister, has now come back to the party fold.

Shiv Sena won 56 seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections, NCP won 54 and Congress won 44 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 105 seats and is the single largest party in the House. The alliance also claims to have the support of a bunch of Independent MLAs as well.
