UIDAI sets THIS DATE as last date for free Aadhaar updates: Here’s what you need to know

The government of India has issued a new statement regarding the Aadhaar card, which is considered the identity of every Indian. The Unique Identification Authority of India, which is abbreviated as UIDAI, has announced that June 14 will be the last date to update the Aadhar Card free of cost, as after June 14, citizens have to pay a fee for any update. 

Accordingly, the citizens and residents have to visit the nearest Aadhar enrollment center for any sort of update. The latest announcement is focused on the 10-year update rule for Aadhaar enrolment under the Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Rule 2016, which states that it is important to update their Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA).

The latest information has revealed that the portal will only accept files in JPEG, PNG, and PDF format, and the maximum size of the picture should be 2 MB. Choose the appropriate documents from the drop-down menu and attach the clean scanned versions.

For Biometric Update - 

In order to update your photograph, fingerprint, or other biometric information, it is required to approach the nearby Aadhaar Enrollment Center. 

For Identity Proof, an individual will require a passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID, Government ID Card (such as a Residence Certificate), Mark Sheet, Marriage Certificate, and Ration Card. For address proof statements (not more than 3 months old), electricity or gas bills (not more than 3 months old), passports, marriage certificates, ration cards, receipts of property tax (not more than 1 year old), and government ID card documents.

Latest Development - 

As per the statement issued, the last date to update the Aadhaar card is June 14, 2025, and following this date, the individuals have to go to the Enrollment Center for any update, and the fee for the same will be INR 50 rupees. 

Before the expiry date, you should visit the official portal of UIDAI, log in, fill in your 12-digit Aadhaar card number, and then fill in the code. In this period, OTP will be sent to the mobile number given on the Aadhaar card. Then, check the PoI and PoA documents. If there is a need to update it, choose the document update option provided on the dashboard.
