After days of agitation and ruckus over the Hathras gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman, Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has now urged the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to permit politicians and media personnel to meet the family members of the victim who apparently succumbed to her injuries in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

In a tweet to CM Yogi, Uma Bharti wrote, " You must be knowing that I am admitted to the Corona ward of AIIMS, Rishikesh after being tested positive for Covid-19. Today is my 7th day here. I have not been able to meet anyone. I was not present at the hearing of a special CBI court on the Babri Masjid case. I have not spoken to anyone on the telephone as well. But I have been following television news."

Notably, the BJP leader’s long thread of tweet was followed by the visit of the Trinamool delegation to Hathras, which was stopped on its way to meet the victim's family on Friday.

However, before that Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were not allowed to visit Hathras. UP police personnel had been tough on Rahul Gandhi and pushed him to ground. On asking, police said the imposition of Section 144  is the reason for barring politicians.

What was more shocking is the ban of media personnel to meet the victim's family on Friday.

Writing bluntly to CM Yogi, Uma Bharti said, "she is certain that the CM is handling the situation deftly. But the way police has locked the victim’s family offers various scope for debate and apprehension."

"The women belonged to a Dalit family. Police hurriedly conducted her last rites and now the family has been locked down. I don’t know of any rule that prohibits the family of a victim if the SIT probe is going on. This will raise questions over the SIT probe only,” Uma Bharti wrote.

Uma Bharti also denounced the action of the Uttar Pradesh Police and said UP police’s action will be tarnishing the image of not only the UP government but also the BJP government. The BJP leader also referred to the recent historic ceremony of the Bhoomi Pujan at the Ram temple, Ayodhya. "We are committed to bring Ram Rajya back in the country," read Uma Bharti's tweet.

"Your image as the CM is very clean. I would request you to allow media personnel and politicians, including those from the Opposition to meet the family," the veteran BJP leader wrote.

"After I get released from here, I will definitely meet the family members," she added.

“I am senior to you in the party and I am also like your elder sister. I urge you to not neglect my suggestions,” said BJP leader.
