The day elections campaign were started by the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, very first promise that it made was to make Punjab drug-free. The fact is not hidden from anyone that the main problem in Punjab is drug abuse. Despite the continuous efforts of the Punjab government and Police administration, cases related to people under the influence of drugs or youth dying because of drug overdose do not seem to have an end. It has been just a month and more than 5 cases along with videos have come forward that clearly state Punjab will not become drug-free at any time or soon.
Firstly, various videos from Maqboolpura went viral which showed how easily drugs are being traded in that place. It was told that this place is known as the ‘village of widows’ as 400 people died from 1999-2016 due to the drug menace in the area. The foremost video that went viral was of a young woman who was not even able to stand straight and it was alleged that she was intoxicated.

All these videos are just evidence to point out that even after the continuous efforts and hard work of the government, the drug menace in Punjab has become uncontrollable.
Here is what the major politicians have to say about the drug menace in Punjab:
MLA Pargat Singh stated, “the drug-related problem in Punjab has become uncontrollable. The CM is busy doing campaigns in other states leaving his state issues behind. CM Mann is responsible for this.”
Another leader from BJP, Sardar Iqbal Singh Lyallpura said, “AAP promised to end the drug menace in Punjab but the videos suggest that instead of decreasing the problem has increased.
Dr. Daljeet Cheema, General Secretory SAD quoted, “first of all, the parties should stop doing politics on this issue. They should form a proper system to curb this problem. The CM should focus on his state instead of others.”
It is very clear that to end the drug menace in Punjab, the government and police administration should together join hands and work towards it.
