Unemployment Rate In June 2022: CMIE has made a big claim about the unemployment rate in the country. According to CMIE data, the unemployment rate in the country has risen to 7.80% in June. The Managing Director of CMIE said that 13 million people became unemployed in the agriculture sector last month. This is also one of the reasons for increasing unemployment in the country.
According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), an economic research institute, the same is true in rural areas. The unemployment rate in India's rural areas was 7.30% in May, which increased to 8.03% in June. The situation is somewhat better in urban areas as compared to rural areas. Here the unemployment rate was recorded at 7.3% in June, while it was 7.12% in May.
CMIE Managing Director Mahesh Vyas has described this increase in the unemployment rate as the highest in the month without lockdown. However, he has also indicated that this situation will change soon. He said the decline in employment is mainly in rural areas. These days the farming activities in the villages are sluggish.
Mahesh Vyas said that as soon as the sowing starts in July, then there is every hope of a turnaround in this situation regarding employment. He said that even though 1.3 crore jobs were reduced in June, unemployment increased by only 30 lakhs.
Mahesh Vyas said that this decrease has mainly happened in the unorganized sector. He expressed the possibility that the unemployment rate has increased due to the exodus of workers due to Corona. He called it worrying. Apart from this, he also expressed concern over the reduction of 25 lakh jobs of salaried employees in June 2022.
Mahesh Vyas said that the government has reduced the demand for armed forces by bringing a new scheme. In addition, opportunities in private equity-funded jobs are also beginning to dwindle.
