In a major security lapse, an 'unidentified flying object' was spotted over the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi on Monday. As per reports, a PCR call was received around 5 AM saying that a drone-like object was seen over PM Modi's residence. Following that the Delhi Police came into action and launched a probe. However, as per initial reports, nothing suspicious has been found in the investigation. A senior Police official known to the developments was quoted by a news wire stated that nothing suspicious was found adding that even the Air Traffic Control (ATC) did not find anything.

Delhi Police in a statement said, "An information was received at NDD control room with respect to unidentified flying objet near PM residence. Thorough searches were made in nearby areas but no such object was detected. Air traffic control room (ATC) was also contacted, they also did not detect any such flying object near PM residence," the Delhi Police said in a statement.

For those who are unaware, the Prime Minister's official residence comes under the no-fly zone and SPG is responsible for providing security to the PM. Notably, it is not the first time a security lapse has been seen when it comes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The most infamous one is in Punjab's Ferozepur.

Will PM Modi stick to picking ex-bureaucrats in possible Cabinet reshuffle?

On January 5, 2022, PM Modi landed in Bathinda from where he was scheduled to go to the National Martyrs’ Memorial at Hussainiwala by chopper. But due to rain and poor visibility, it was decided that the PM would travel by road, which would take over two hours. As a result, the route was planned after confirming the necessary security arrangements by the Punjab top cop. Around 30 km away from the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Hussainiwala, when his convoy was on a flyover, it was found that the road was blocked by protestors. The PM’s convoy remained stuck on the flyover, in a major security lapse. The incident took place when Charanjit Singh Channi was the CHief Minister of Punjab.
