UP farmers refrained by police to cross the Delhi-Ghaziabad border to join protests

In a major move to control the amassing crowd on the borders owing to the farmers' protests, Delhi Police on Monday morning has placed the concrete barriers at Ghazipur, Delhi-Ghaziabad border. 

This development comes after the farmer leaders threatened to block highways connecting Delhi apart from Tikri and Singhu borders, which have been already blocked by the farmers since Friday. 

Notably, on Sunday evening, a brief ruckus was reported from the Ghazipur border where farmers tried to shove police barricades however, they were stopped by their leaders. 

A senior police officer, who asked for anonymity, informed that cement jersey barriers have been put up at the Ghazipur border to stop farmers from barging in with vehicles.

"Since farmers have called for blocking Delhi-Ghaziabad, Delhi-Gurugram, and Delhi-Faridabad borders also, adequate measures are being taken," the officer said.

Though the situation is being closely monitored by the police at Delhi-Gurugram, Delhi-Noida, and Delhi-Faridabad border areas along-with tightened security. 

On Sunday, farmer leaders camping at Singhu Border since Friday held a press briefing and announced that they will block three more borders in order to be heard.
