In a tragic incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, an employee of the UP power corporation burnt himself alive after his boss allegedly asked him to 'send his wife for a night' if he wanted a transfer.

45-year-old Gokul Prasad has been working in the power department for the last 22 years. He has filed an FIR against his boss Junior Engineer Nagendra Sharma for asking Rs 1 lac for transfer.  He alleges that the junior engineer and his aide had been harassing him and that he had approached the police, but received no help.

Before his death, the video in which he levelled the allegations against the JE surfaced on social media.

"He went into depression, and started taking medication, but they did not spare him. He was transferred to Aliganj and was facing difficulty in travelling. So he asked for a transfer closer home. They told him, 'get your wife to sleep with us and we will get you transferred',” shared Gokul’s wife.

Sanjiv Suman, Superintendent of Police, said that an FIR has been lodged against the junior engineer and the lineman.
