The political environment of Punjab seems to have heated up. From the time Aam Aadmi Party has raised allegations against BJP for buying their MLAs, nothing is at rest. The oppositions, Congress and BJP have regarded Punjab’s Operation Lotus as baseless in unison. While addressing the state, CM Mann said that a special assembly will be conducted on the 22nd of September to prove the confidence motion legally. Post this, the governor refused to be present at the session and asked to call off the assembly meeting as there was no provision for the same in the constitution.

Soon after that, the Aam Aadmi Party was upset with this decision of the governor and decided to stage a protest against the same. After being told about the same rule, AAP decided to have a special assembly session to prove the trust vote.

On the 3rd of October, the trust vote was won by AAP after and before which the protests were carried out by BJP and Congress. They stated that bringing a Vote of Confidence in Punjab Vidhan Sabha is utter disrespect to the governor of the state and his decision.

The Congress leaders and MLAs walked out before the start of the Vidhan Sabha special session. They demanded that the speaker should allot them some time and raise relevant issues during the Zero hour. Although this protest was carried out, the CM passed the confidence motion in the assembly.

After this BJP also protested in the same manner as Congress and staged a statewide protest against AAP. The leaders of the party protested under the life-size statues and portraits of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

On Monday the AAP government won the trust vote with the support of 91 MLAs. It would be pertinent to mention that BJP had already announced to boycott the session as according to them the allegations put up are false and baseless. Not even a single Congress or BJP MLA was present in the session at the time of voting.
