US Democrats plan to Impeach Donald Trump, demand resignation after the Capitol attack

This is going to be the second attempt to Impeach President Donald Trump while the White House says it will divide the country.

America Impeachment Donald-Trump

US President elect Joe Biden after denouncing the storming of the Capitol termed it "one of the darkest day in the history of our nation." Similarly, Vice President Mike Pence also termed it "dark day in the history of US Capitol" and later added that violence never wins. As the incident received criticisms from leaders across the globe, the House Speaker, Nancy Pelosy said she would move forward with impeachment if President Donald Trump didn't resign.

Trump has been accused of inciting his followers that led to the Capitol attacks. The House of Democrats are going to introduce a 'charge of insurrection'. In the attacks, five people have died. Pelosy warns that Trump is a threat to democracy in America.

Biden said that impeachment is for Congress to decide but he believed, "President Trump was not fit to hold the job." Lawmakers are skeptical of Trump if he stays in the office. However, after the attacks on the Capitol, Trump had been isolated and receiving and lot of flak.

Pelosi in a letter to her colleagues added, "We will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat." Full house vote is expected on Tuesday after Pelosi's leadership team brings a vote on the resolution calling on Vice President Pence to invoke 25th amendment.

Dismissing the impeachment as "politically motivated" the White House stated it would "further divide our great country." If the impeachment proceeds, it will be the second attempt to impeach Trump from office. He was earlier impeached by the lower house on the charges of 'abuse of power' and 'obstruction of Congress' in December 2019. Trump was later on acquitted by the Senate in February 2020.

However, it is still obscure if enough members of the President's party will agree to impeach him. Successful impeachment attempt will bar the president from the benefits enjoyed by the presidents after retirement. He might be banned from standing in the elections by the Senate.

Pelosi on Friday called Trump "unhinged" and said Congress must do everything possible to protect Americans while he hold office. Impeachment is a rare event that is now going to be used against Trump again.
