Valentine's Day, celebrated annually on 14th February, has originated as a Christian feast day honouring a martyr named Valentine. It has also become a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance and love in many parts of the world.
Valentine's Week consists of seven days, focusing on different forms of love and affection. It begins with Rose Day which is celebrated on 7th February, Propose Day celebrated on 8th February, Chocolate Day on 9th February, Teddy Day on 10th February, Promise Day on 11th February, Hug Day on 12th February, and finally Valentine’s Day on 14th February.
Teddy Day is celebrated on 10th February and is the fourth day of Valentine’s Week 2025. On this day, partners express their love, warmth and comfort by gifting cute teddy bears to each other. Gifting soft and cute teddy bear symbolises affection and lifelong support.
Teddy Bear was inspired by U.S. President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. In 1902, Roosevelt had refused to shoot a helpless bear during a hunting trip. His act of kindness led to the creation of the first ever Teddy Bear.
Following this incident, teddy bears have become a symbol of love, care as well as comfort. A teddy bear is a constant reminder of love and affection. Additionally, people get their partner’s name, initials or a special message embroidered on the teddy bear in order to make them feel more special.
