A 20-year old Indian woman Vedangi Kulkarni has become the fastest Asian to cycle the globe after reaching Kolkata on Sunday, having completed the 29,000 kilometers distance required to qualify as cycling around the globe.

Vedangi took 159 days to complete the record. The world record is held by a British adventurer Jenny Graham (38) becoming the fastest woman having cycled the globe in 124 days in 2018.

Vedangi hails from Pune and is pursuing a degree in sports management at the University of Bournemouth, UK.

It took 2 years for the preparation of the cycling expedition getting the specially crafted bicycle ready, planning of the route and the time window.

She encountered temperatures ranging from -20 degree Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius during the ride.

Vedangi credited her parents as pillars of strength who ensured she pulls off this ride and enters record books.
