These days, the world is busy cheering and supporting the players in Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the sad side of this celebration is that even after six days of the death of 105-year-old veteran athlete Mann Kaur, who won more than 35 national-international titles for the country, no official of Punjab and Chandigarh had reached to express the grief to her family. Even during the last rites of the athlete, no Government official was spotted.

Man Kaur's Final Prayers (Antim Ardas) is kept on Saturday at Gurdwara Sahib in Sector-40 from noon to 1 pm.

Mann Kaur started her career as an athlete at the age of 95, she was inspired by her son Gurdev Singh. Even after working so hard and winning medals for the country, she did not get respect during her last time, which is disheartening.

State Sports Trust has been formed by the family to support the sports in the state. Mann Kaur’s son Gurdev Singh said that trust is being formed on behalf of the family to encourage sports, as a tribute to Mann Kaur. He said that the Punjab government or the Chandigarh government may not have made any memorial for Maan Kaur, but a film producer from Mumbai has proposed to gift 30 acres of land in Anandpur Sahib in the name of the trust.

Gurdev Singh told that he wants that if 100 acres of land is available to promote sports, then he can make one player for the country. He said that the climate and water in the Anandpur Sahib area are good, due to which the players will be helped in improving their performance.

He further told that in the future a film would be made on the struggling life of Mata Mann Kaur Ji, in which her sports life would be shown.
