While the majority of the world has lifted strict COVID lockdown norms, China has stuck to its strict Zero COVID policy. In zero covid-policy, China has reportedly reimposed its strict COVID-lockdown norms in multiple cities and as a result, iPhone factory workers in Zhengzhou were seen fleeing from the city. China's Zero COVID policy is nothing but a strategy that aims to drive down and ultimately eliminate the number of COVID-19 cases by imposing extremely strict lockdowns and crippling travel bans. Reportedly, the Chinese policy includes reducing coronavirus cases by use of harsh, blunt-weapon techniques irrespective of the pain and disruption it causes.

Now, multiple videos have been doing viral on social media showing iPhone factory workers fleeing Zhengzhou. In fact, many were also seen walking to another city where there might have been no lockdown or let's say strict measures imposed.

The Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou in Henan province is the largest plant in China that assembles products for Apple, including the latest iPhone 14.

Zhengzhou is also known as iPhone city, due to the Foxconn plant that makes Apple iPhones. Reportedly, the workers of the iPhone plant decided to leave after reports emerged that the Foxconn administration had put a number of workers under quarantine after a Covid-19 outbreak in the plant. The company reported also imposed a 'closed-loop' system under which the movements of workers were restricted to their residence and the plant.

There are multiple videos doing rounds on social media and US media reported that Foxconn workers complained of poor food quality and a lack of medical care for those who tested positive for Covid-19. There were also growing concerns among the workers that the infection could be spreading. Notably, Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant is a massive facility that can accommodate 3,50,000 workers. Reportedly, the plant had around 2,00,000 workers when the fresh lockdown was announced. At present, it is not known how many of them are infected, how many have left and how many remain at the site.
