India Trending Tirupati Zoo Lion Attack

In a horrific development, a man from Rajasthan was mauled to death after he jumped inside a lion enclosure to take a selfie at Tirupati Zoo. The bizarre incident took place on Thursday afternoon. Authorities at the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park reportedly said that the man, identified as 38-year-old Prahlad Gujjar from Alwar in Rajasthan, had entered the enclosure after getting into an unauthorized section that was not open to the public. The man reportedly ignored a caretaker's warnings to back off. Prahalad climbed a fence that was over 25 feet tall and jumped into the enclosure. Now, multiple videos from the Tirupati Zoo have been shared on X in which the lion that mauled the man to death can be seen.

In the viral Tirupati Zoo video, the lion can be seen resting in its cage. Another video showcased the lion's enclosure where the man was possibly mauled to death. The lion's name is Dongalpur. Dongalpur mauled Gujjar to death before the caretaker could act. A police case has been registered and a post-mortem is being conducted, which will also establish whether Gujjar was under any influence when he entered the enclosure. Gujjar was visiting the zoo alone and authorities are trying to get in touch with his family.

Notably, Gujjar's body was found intact with only neck injuries at the part where the lion bit him. Following the attack, the lion was locked in the night house.
