Videos of a man carrying his paralyzedwife on and off a truck besides taking care of her daily amenities, which includecleaning, changing her clothes, and exercising have left Lakhs of people intears in mainland China. The man, Nie Jianwen, 39, is a truckdriver from Longnan in Gansu province, northwest China. Nie’s wife Cao Yingyingsuffered a brain hemorrhage in the year 2020, leaving her paralyzed.
Nie has been working as a truck driverbased in Shanghai, since 2007, thousands of Kilometers away from where he usedto live, but he decided to take care of his wife Cao, besides doing his job andtaking his wife where ever he goes taking full-time care of her. “There are already two young children athome, and it’s beyond my 76-year-old mother’s capacity to take care of a thirdperson who is disabled,” Nie told China Youth Daily.
Nie became the sole carer of her wife after shesuffered the paralysis attack, he takes care of her in every single regard,right from washing, cleaning, medication to putting up her make-up. Nie takes her wife for rehabilitation trainingdue to a lack of space in the truck, while he loads or unloads the truck duringthe night. Nie’seffort has done a lot in Cao’s recovery now she can walk a couple of kilometerstwo years after the incident.
Becauseof the lack of space in the truck with no washing and bathroom facilities, Nieadded that basic things like, “Taking a shower or using the restroom are thehardest things to overcome.” Caosometimes soils the bed during the journey, failing to find the restroom on thehighway, Nie would clean up the entire mess without complaining.
“Whenshe was well, my wife took care of everything at home and gave birth to our twochildren,” Nie said. “I cannot dump her when she is ill.”
“Iwill feel guilty for the rest of my life if I let her go.”
Thetwo lovely couple has been together for a long time; Cao was Nie’s first loveand secondary school classmate, and they still cherish their love as they used todo years ago.
Speakingabout her husband’s devotion, Cao said: “My husband is a decent man who lovesto joke and has a sense of duty.”
“Most importantly,he loves me.”
