Terming as unacceptable the violence perpetrated bycertain elements during today’s Tractor Rally in the national capital, PunjabChief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday urged all genuine farmers toimmediate vacate Delhi and return to the borders, where they had beenprotesting peacefully for the past two months.

The Chief Minister also ordered a high alert in Punjabamid the tension and violence in Delhi, and directed DGP Dinkar Gupta to ensurethat law and order in the state is not disturbed at any cost.

Expressing grave concern over the situation, the ChiefMinister said the violence was apparently triggered by some people who violatedthe rules laid down for the Tractor March through mutual agreement between theDelhi Police and the Kisan Unions. It was unfortunate that these elementsdisturbed the peaceful agitation of the farmers, he said, condemning theincidents that took place at the historic Red Fort and some other key points ofthe national capital.

Pointing out that the major Kisan leaders had already andcategorically dissociated themselves from the violence, Captain Amarinder saidthe agitating farmers should immediately vacate the national capital and getback to their camps at the borders, and continue to engage with the Centre toresolve the crisis over the Farm Laws.

“Shocking scenes in Delhi. The violence by some elementsis unacceptable. It'll negate goodwill generated by peacefully protestingfarmers. Kisan leaders have disassociated themselves & suspended#TractorRally. I urge all genuine farmers to vacate Delhi & return toborders,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

Captain Amarinder called upon the farmers to continue toexercise the remarkable restraint with which they had conducted their peacefulprotests for the past two months at the Delhi borders, and in Punjab prior tothat. Pointing out that peace had been the hallmark of their agitation, and thereason for the support they had received from across India and the world, hestressed the need for law and order to be maintained at all costs during thedemocratic protests by the farmers.
