Viral Video: ATM dispensing fake Rs 200 currency note in Amethi; Watch

A bizarre incident has left residents of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in shock after an ATM machine dispensed fake 200 currency notes.

The case has been reported from Munshiganj Road Sabzi Mandi area where a man went to withdraw money from the ATM for Diwali shopping but ended up receiving a fake note instead, among the original currencies.

Out of the total notes withdrawn two of the Rs 200 notes had "Children Bank of India," and "Full of Fun" written on them. Soon after the victim raised alarm over the incident, locals gathered around and made a video that has gone viral now.

While reporting the incident to the police, other people also claimed of receiving fake currencies from the ATM. Upon registering complaints, local police launched an investigation into the case.

Based on the reports citing the locals no security guards were also present when the incident occurred. Kishan Vishwakarma, one of those who used the ATM, said he withdrew ₹ 5,000 but found one fake note of ₹ 200 denomination. He went on to say while talking to the media that a similar incident happened with another person.

The Machine belongs to India1, which also operated a chain of these machines and point-of-sale terminals across the country.

The company was formerly known by the name of BTI payments Private Limited, which received the license of operations from the RBI to establish its own and operate the ATMs which means it held the rights of being regarded as a non-banking company carrying currencies-related operations in the country.

As per the company’s website, India1 deployed close to over 3000 ATMs in 2021. The company carries its operation under the brand name of India1ATMs which is mostly focused in the semi-urban and rural areas of the country.
