BJP leader Varun Gandhi has tweeted a video showcasing a group of poor people complaining about a forceful imposition of official orders of buying tri-color (national flag) outside a PDS shop in order to procure their monthly quota of ration.

The video came to the fore when there has been a widespread campaign about the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ from the central government on the appeal of the Prime Minister. The man in the video can be heard complaining about the purchasing of the flag at Rs 20 in order to get the ration from the PDS.

A woman corroborated the man’s claim and said, “They are asking us to buy a flag, and if not they are denying us the quota of ration, why should I buy a flag when I want food?” Another woman said, “They have cut away my 5 KG of ration for one flag and asked to pay Rs 20 in order to get my monthly quota. I don’t have money.”

The journalist reporting the entire incident when asked a man sitting at the PDS on the move, the man said, “Our senior official has given us the order to sell a flag to each of the PDS beneficiaries while granting them their quota of ration.”

In the background, people can be seen surrounding the area where events unfold when people were complaining of their plight. While tweeting the video Varun Gandhi in the caption highlighted his concern over the manner in which people are forced to take a flag or give up their ration instead.

He termed the entire episode shameful and disgrace on the part of collecting the price of the tricolor.

In the wake of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign post offices all over the country are selling tiranga to make it a grand success which is being observed in ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark India’s 75th year of independence.
