Punjab Election 2022: Nearly 1% votes turnout in Navjot Singh Sidhu’s seat

Bumper voting is going on in the seats of current CM Charanjit Singh Channi and former CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

Voting has begun for 117 assembly seats in Punjab. Political ruckus started in Punjab as soon as the voting started. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the EVMs of not working in many places and the Akali leaders for booth capturing in Gurharsahai. The state witnessed 4.80% polling during the first hour till 9 am.

Till now, bumper voting is going on in the seats of current CM Charanjit Singh Channi and former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal. At the same time, only 1.10% voter turnout has been recorded in Amritsar East seat, which is closely fought by Navjot Sidhu and Bikram Singh Majithia.

4.14% polling has been done there so far in Amritsar district. According to the Election Commission, 117 Assembly constituencies in 23 districts of Punjab will be voting from 24,689 polling booths on Sunday. All the covid related protocols have been getting followed at all the polling stations.  Voting started at 8 am and will continue till 6 pm. Tight security arrangements have been made during this time. 


Congress candidate O.P. Soni and Pargat Singh spotted at polling booths to caste their votes.





Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha said that EVM machines did not work in Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran, Khemkaran, Majitha, Sanaur, Shutrana.
