'We Want Babri': Jamia Millia Islamia students protest against Ayodhya Ram Temple, Delhi Police deployed

A handful of Jamia Millia Islamia students on Monday staged a protest against the Pran Pratishtha Event in Ayodhya and chanted slogans against the Government of India. Jamia Millia Islamia students' protest against Ayodhya Ram Temple went viral on social media and following that Delhi Police team was deployed outside the varsity campus. Delhi Police on Tuesday confirmed that a protest was held inside the Jamia Millia Islamia against the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.Now, Jamia Millia Islamia students protest video is going viral on social media. 

 

In the viral Jamia Millia Islamia protest against Ram Mandir video, the students were seen holding placards and chanting slogans against the RSS. Not only this, Jamia Millia Islamia students' placards had Babri Masjid and they chanted slogans like 'One more Babri', 'We Want Babri', and 'RSS Down Down'. 

 

As per reports, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Rajesh Deo said that information was received that on Monday evening some protest was held inside the campus by a group called the 'Fraternity Movement' which is led by Lubabib Bashir. He said that in the wake of protests preventive deployment has been undertaken.

 

"No protest was done outside the campus. Local police did not go inside the campus. The circulating videos are from inside the campus,” said the DCP. As a result, Delhi Police have been also deployed outside the campus to avoid any kind of untoward incident.

 

A user with the handle "Fraternity Movement JMI" on X platform posted a video in which students can be seen chanting pro-Babri Masjid slogans. The video was captioned,  "Boycott for Babri. Resistance is Remembrance. Fraternity Movement Jamia Millia Islamia orchestrated a university-wide strike, encouraging students to abstain from attending classes and reading rooms in solidarity with Babri Masjid."

 

Jamia Millia Islamia spokesperson while talking to a newswire stated that the Varsity has launched an investigation. The Spokesperson said, "There were 2-3 students who raised slogans and showed placards yesterday. When we got the knowledge the students were removed from the place. The university is further looking into the matter. He also said that ongoing exams for the evening shift went smoothly. "No problems were faced during the exams. Jamia called the half day off, so the first half exams were postponed," the spokesperson added.
