Waris Punjab De Head Amritpal Singh, currently locked up at Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act, will contest elections from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha (LS) seat as confirmed by his legal council Rajdev Singh Khalsa, a former MP from Sangrur
Khalsa said that he is in Dibrugarh today where he met Amritpal Singh. Amritpal confirmed to him that he will contest elections from Khadoor Sahib.
Amritpal will be contesting the elections independently however sources say that, a mainstream party is considering extending support to Amritpal Singh from outside.
In March 2023, the state government, acting in coordination with the central government, launched an intense crackdown on Sandhu and his associates. He was arrested on 23 April 2023 for attempted murder, among other charges
