"We stand with famers now and always," say US-based Tut brothers

They had recently sent around 20 quintal almonds for protesters in Delhi

Expressing concern over the brutal treatment given to the farmers both in Haryana and Delhi, the US-based Tut brothers, who had recently sent around 20 quintals of almonds for the protestors, said, the Modi government should roll back the farm laws immediately. They said that if the farmers for whom these laws are, they are not happy, then why government is adamant over bringing these laws, they said.

The Tut brothers namely – Surjit Singh Tut, Pritam Singh Tut, Ranjit Singh Tut and Amarjit Singh Tut, who hails from Paragpur village here in Jalandhar said as a large number of Indians especially the Sikh population resides in foreign nations, they have openly come out in support of the protesting farmers and are sending every help possible.

Iqbal Sandhu, a family friend of the Tut brother, in conversation with the True Scoop, informed that as Tut brothers are among big almond producers in the US, they have come forward to pitch in their contribution by sending 20 quintals of almonds. He said that while 20 quintals were dispatched yesterday from the godown of Ranjit Tut, more sacks of almonds are being sent through farmers joining the protests from here.

He further said that being farmers themselves, the Tut brothers are concerned for farmers and are standing totally in support for them. “The farming facilities and policies in the US are completely farmers’ friendly, he said, adding that it is a matter of shame for the Indian government that the annadata (farmers) are sitting on roads and protesting for their rights”, he said.

Divulging more details, Iqbal Sandhu said that the four Tut brothers are known for philanthropic works, especially related to Sikh community. Apart from sending almonds on protest sites, they are giving around 3 quintal of almonds to the Surjit Hockey camp. “Uplifting the Sikh community and sports players of Punjab, have always been their main motto”, he said, adding that we are all in this together, be it people in Punjab or other states or our Punjabi brothers in abroad. 

Meanwhile, Sandhu also said that through live videos on facebook and in talks with their farmers’ friends out in Punjab, the NRIs have offered financial help and are even taking out protest marches in US, Canada, New Zealand etc and demand withdrawal of these farms laws.

He further said that till date the government doesn’t take back these farm laws, help in the form of langar ( community kitchen) and other required things will be sent from time to time.
