Awebinar was organized by Science City to celebrate National Youth Day, today.More than 200 students and teachers from different schools of Punjabparticipated in the event.
DPSKharbanda, IAS Special Secretary/ Director Sports and Youth Services, Punjabwas the Chief Guest on the occasion. Giving his inaugural address he said thatenergy, creativity, enthusiasm, determination, and spirit of youth needs to bechannelized to achieve progress in the field of science and technology,finances, health, sports and nation building. He informed that during COVID pandemic, 13000 Youth Clubs of Punjabparticipated in the sanitization drive initiated by the respective DistrictAdministration.
Dr.Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City said that National Youth Day alsoknown as the Yuwa Diwas marks the celebration of Swami Vivekanand’s birthdaywho was known as the Prophet of the present age. He tried to bridge the dividebetween science & religion and had a scientific bent of mind. While he wasin the West, he met and interacted with scientists like, Nicholas Testa, LordKevin, etc. who acknowledged that they were deeply impressed with hisscientific thinking. Youth constitute majority of the population in thecountry, therefore, can play an important role in the progress and developmentof the Nation. The future, of our country is in the hands of our youth. TheScience City is, therefore, empowering youth by motivating them towards Science,Technology and Innovation. DrParmvir Singh, Professor, Sports Sciences, Punjabi University Patialadelivering an expert talk on ‘Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building’, saidthat youth power can do wonders provided its potential is tapped for thedevelopmental projects of the nation.
“Indianyouth have never lagged behind when called upon to meet any challenge. It isfor the national leaders to play their part by mobilizing their abilities andproviding them with suitable opportunities. Let there be no doubt about thestrength, power and capabilities of youth. Youth are expected to participate in education, peace and development ofthe nation”, he said
Dr.Rajesh Grover, Director Science City present at the occasion said thatparticipation of youth in growing economy is essential key to nationdevelopment. Empowered youth can prove to be the greatest force that drives anation towards success and prosperity. The future of a nation lies in the handsof its generations to come.
