Webinar organised by Science City to mark National Youth Day

A webinar was organized by Science City to celebrate National Youth Day, today. More than 200 students and teachers from different schools of Punjab participated in the event.

DPS Kharbanda, IAS Special Secretary/ Director Sports and Youth Services, Punjab was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Giving his inaugural address he said that energy, creativity, enthusiasm, determination, and spirit of youth needs to be channelized to achieve progress in the field of science and technology, finances, health, sports and nation building.  He informed that during COVID pandemic, 13000 Youth Clubs of Punjab participated in the sanitization drive initiated by the respective District Administration.

Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General Science City said that National Youth Day also known as the Yuwa Diwas marks the celebration of Swami Vivekanand’s birthday who was known as the Prophet of the present age. He tried to bridge the divide between science & religion and had a scientific bent of mind. While he was in the West, he met and interacted with scientists like, Nicholas Testa, Lord Kevin, etc. who acknowledged that they were deeply impressed with his scientific thinking. Youth constitute majority of the population in the country, therefore, can play an important role in the progress and development of the Nation. The future, of our country is in the hands of our youth. The Science City is, therefore, empowering youth by motivating them towards Science, Technology and Innovation. Further, the quality of youth will determine the kind of future, the nation will have, she added

Dr Parmvir Singh, Professor, Sports Sciences, Punjabi University Patiala delivering an expert talk on ‘Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building’, said that youth power can do wonders provided its potential is tapped for the developmental projects of the nation.

“Indian youth have never lagged behind when called upon to meet any challenge. It is for the national leaders to play their part by mobilizing their abilities and providing them with suitable opportunities. Let there be no doubt about the strength, power and capabilities of youth.  Youth are expected to participate in education, peace and development of the nation”, he said

Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director Science City present at the occasion said that participation of youth in growing economy is essential key to nation development. Empowered youth can prove to be the greatest force that drives a nation towards success and prosperity. The future of a nation lies in the hands of its generations to come.
