Navjot Singh Sidhu, the president of the Punjab Congressunit, has once again targeted Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh and raised questionson his own party over ‘delay’ in action on the Special Task Force (STF) reporton drugs involving Majithia and other big names.

Sidhu said that the state govt must move plea forpreponement of opening of ‘sealed reports’ to the earliest taking case againstMajithia to a logical conclusion, punishing the guilty.

He questioned what action had been taken in the past twoand a half years in a series of tweets while stating that if the reports aredelayed any longer, he would bring a resolution in the state assembly to makethe reports public.

Earlier, the state's home department has also wrote tothe STF chief, inquiring as to why there has been a delay in taking actionagainst the state's big fish in the drug trade.

“In February 2018, STF headed by ADGP Harpreet Sidhufiled “status report” in Punjab & Haryana High Court, investigating statements& evidence recorded by ED that were submitted before Hon’ble Court in caseof Bikramjit Singh Majithia & others involvement in Drug trafficking,”tweeted Sidhu.

He continued saying, “In 2018, I held Press Conference, asking the Govt to immediately act upon the information shared by STF with theHon’ble Court, after investigating into incriminating evidence produced beforeCourt by Enforcement Directorate (Sharing Court records with admissiblestatements).”

“Hon’ble High Court had asked Punjab Govt to proceed asper law on the STF Report. On 23 May 2018 Govt filed before CourtOpinion-cum-Status Report that still awaits the light of day in sealedenvelope. After 2.5 years of delay, how much more the People of Punjab shouldwait ?” questioned Punjab PCC cheif.

He further questioned, “What investigation had PunjabPolice done? What action had Punjab Govt taken? Must be brought into publicdomain. Since submission of reports, what further action did the state take in2.5 years? Govt must make itself accountable to the Public with completetransparency!!”

“No substantial order has been passed by Hon’ble Court in2.5 years on this matter that impacts lives of Punjab’s Youth. Govt must moveplea for preponement of opening of sealed reports to the earliest taking caseagainst Majithia to a logical conclusion, punishing the guilty.”

“Punishing culprits behind Drug trade is Congress’spriority under 18-Point Agenda. What is the action taken on Majithia? WhileGovt seeks extradition of NRIs linked to the same case. If further delayed willbring resolution in Punjab Vidhan Sabha for making the Reports Public,” said Sidhu.
