The entire US and music fraternity was left shell-shocked after American Idol alum & Grammy-winning artist Mandisa died at the age of 47. On Friday, Mandisa's death was confirmed by her representative The Media Collective as quoted by US media. For the unversed, Mandisa rose to fame after her participation in season five of American Idol in 2006, where she serenaded audiences alongside winner Taylor Hicks. What happened to Mandisa?
As per reports, Mandisa was found dead at her home in Franklin, Tennessee under mysterious circumstances. As a result, Franklin Police Department opened an investigation into Mandisa's mysterious death. Therefore, Mandisa's cause of death or death reason has not been revealed yet.
Mandisa's team in its statement was quoted saying, "We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details..We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world."
Born Mandisa Lynn Hundley in Citrus Heights, California, Mandisa was among the most promising singers. While studying at Fisk University in Nashville, Mandisa aced her craft as part of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Following her success on the show (American Idol), she released her debut album ‘True Beauty’ in 2007 and started her career in Christian music.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mandisa documented her mental health struggles in her 2022 memoir, “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy” with the hope of helping others.
