Many wondered whether Virat Kohli has turned into a non-vegetarian yet again as he shared a Chicken Tikka post and lauded the chef for making it. Notably, Virat Kohli is a vegetarian and strictly follows his diet. While at first fans wondered whether Virat Kohli has turned non-vegetarian or not, a few pointed out that the cricketer has written 'mock chicken tikka'. Now, the question arises what is Mock Chicken Tikka, eaten by Virat Kohli?

What is Mock Chicken Tikka?

Virat Kohli's mock chicken tikka puzzled the fans as it indeed looked like a non-vegetarian food. However, many fans pointed out the fact that mock chicken tikka is a plant-based food. Virat recently took to Instagram to share an image of a wiped-out plate and wrote "You’ve really nailed this mock chicken tikka." But what is a mock chicken tikka? It is like any other chicken tikka dish excluding the chicken bit which is replaced by mock chicken that is made out of certain plant-based items such as jackfruit, soy protein, or tofu.

It means mock chicken tikka can be made using jackfruit, soy protein, or tofu. It can be of the same taste as a typical delicious chicken tikka.

However, the word mock chicken does not indicate a vegetarian dish. In true terms, in mock chicken dishes, other meat dishes are replaced by chicken. The other ingredients are replaced such that it takes the shape and appearance of a chicken dish hence mock chicken.

In the case of Virat Kohli, the chef must have used a vegetarian alternative as mentioned above.

For those who are unaware, Virat Kohli had revealed in an interview that why he turned a vegetarian. Kohli had said, "Left eating meat just before the England Test series. In 2018, when we went to South Africa, I had a cervical spine issue while playing a test match. It compressed a nerve that was running straight to the little finger of my right hand. It gave me a tingling sensation and I could barely feel my little finger. I could not sleep at night and it was hurting like mad. "

"Then I got my tests done and my stomach was too acidic and my body was too acidic, creating too much uric acid. Even though I was taking calcium and magnesium, everything but one tablet was not sufficient for my body to function properly. So, my stomach started pulling calcium from my bones and my bones got weaker. That is why I stopped eating meat completely in the middle of England tour to cut down the uric acid and I have never felt better in my life, to be honest," Virat added.

Notably, after fans mistaken for Kohli's chicken tikka post and started trolling him, many users came in support of former Team India captain.

A user wrote, "Some people on Twitter really don't understand the difference between Chicken tikka and Mock chicken tikka (a kinda plant food) and started controversy against Virat Kohli for eating non veg."

Another user wrote, "Ye kya kardiya kohli bhai..BTW chicken Tikka is tasty."

"
