What next for Americans, Trump supporter or not, in the wake of riots at Capitol Hill?

Donald Trump, acting like a sore loser and showing no regards for any propriety, does not appear to be a man who will go down without more fight.

International World Politics

Donald Trump has never failed to surprise, and his political career as the President of United States, now terminal, has seen many firsts. The cavalier attitude with which he performed his obligations, the often unwarranted and brash tweets he posted, and the way he riddled his opponents with holes verbally all are characteristics of a man who knows how to and also enjoys rocking the boat.

Donald Trump believes to his core that the 2020 US Presidential Elections have been rigged against him. If he had won the elections, would he have taken the same stance is something that does not require much thinking to answer.

Not discounting a few events in 2020 that were truly disrespectful of human dignity, the whites in America have been under assault from a long time. Furthermore, the political correctness movement always has a ready-made scapegoat – the humans who were born white. These are the people for whom Donald Trump is a messiah.

Ideologically-motivated individuals have their egos merged with their group’s identity and thus, any attack on the ideas of the group is seen as a personal attack to the person’s safety and well-being. And the group leader has an almost absolute sway over the group. Since history is written by victors and the losers are the villains, thus the example of Adolf Hitler’s influence in getting his people to do what he wanted serves as a fitting example.

Now, it may be safe to predict that a leader of such charm, confidence, and having a way with words will not accept his electoral defeat in a conventional manner. Though security personnel from many branches have been deputed, and curfew till the oath-ceremony of Donald Trump’s opponent, Joe Biden, is complete is enforced still the spirit in support of the former burns brighter.

Considering the responses of Trump’s family, and his acknowledgement of the “pain” his supporters are going through, Trump acknowledges the act of assaulting The Capitol building by ordinary American citizens as a valid way to express displeasure. The man even played favorites among his followers by claiming that those who took the time and risked their limb and life to attack The Capitol are his “very special”.

The social media websites have blocked Donald Trump’s account for up to day on one pretext or another and this does limit his ability to broadcast what is on his mind and leave his supporters without leadership.

Still, at least in the near future, the world should expect the theatrics to continue with the security personnel having their hands full and Joe Biden off to a rough start. It is hoped that no individual on either side, the public or the public servants, have to suffer any bodily harm.
