Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to attend a 10-day Vipasana meditiation course in the Vipasana Centre in village Anandgarh in Hoshiarpur. Kejriwal has attended Vipasana meditation centres in Bangalore and Karnatka and is now set to recluse himself for 10 days at the Hoshiarpur Vipasana centre in Anandgarh Village in Hoshiarpur. The centre lies in the foothills of Shivalik Mountains range. The Centre in Hoshiarpur, also called the ‘Dhamma Dhaja’ (meaning ‘Flag of Dhamma), is located at Village Anandgarh, 12 km from Hoshiarpur District. It can be reached by train or bus. Direct trains to Jalandhar are available from all corners of the country. Two direct coaches from Delhi are available through Jammu Mail for Hoshiarpur. uses or auto-rickshaws are available from Hoshiarpur to the centre

 

According to the Hoshiarpur Vipassana Center’s website, the technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results. There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to also benefit.

 

The centre teaches courses that were formed by Satya Narayan Goenka, or S.N. Goenka who passed away in 2013. He was originally from Burma (Myanmar), and had been teaching Vipasana in India since 1969. Satya Narayan Goenka breathed his last in September 2013, at the age of 89.

 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on December 21 in regards to the Delhi Excise Policy case, wherein he was accused of money laundering. Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that Kejriwal had planned the session before the summons was issued. He has arrived in Hoshiarpur today i.e. December 20 and will be staying for the duration of the meditation course, which is 10 days.
