“What are you doing right now?” is the biggest obsession since the launch of social media applications. One such is WhatsApp. WhatsApp is a sister concern of Facebook because of which the introduction of “Status” is quite understandable. The questions right now are what this status feature is? what does it look like? and how you use it?

What is Status?

On WhatsApp, this status feature comprises of a photo or a video of something that someone is doing, thinking or something someone has seen. This feature unlike other subsidiaries of Facebook like Instagram does not come with the feature to like, share and comment.

To see someone’s status on WhatsApp, all you have to do is to open WhatsApp, click on the status button at the bottom of the page. Once on this section, you shall be able to see if someone has posted a status. The status has a blue progress bar around it which moves from left to right as the status approaches the end. Once the progress bar reaches the end, the status ends.

How to create a WhatsApp status?

To create and post your status on WhatsApp, all you have to do is—click the status button at the bottom, on the top right next to your profile picture, click on the camera icon. This shall take you to the camera interface where you would be able to record your status or upload a picture from gallery. The camera interface gives you two options—Hold for video, tap for photo. As the instructions suggest, if you want to click a picture just tap the button once, to record a video hold it until you are done. The smiley icon in the camera interface is to add an emoji or a sticker to make your status more aesthetic.
After you are done, your profile picture would be replaced by your status. This circular thumbnail will also be displayed in the WhatsApp status section of your contacts.

How to delete a WhatsApp status?

To delete a status, simply click on the status on your status page. Tap the three horizontal dots and then click on Delete from the drop down box. The same page would show you how many views you video has got.
