Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone sparked rumors of pregnancy with her choice of attire during the 77th British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) Awards this year, held in London’s Royal Festival Hall. Although rumours were already gaining traction, they gained further momentum during the red-carpet event, where her stunning saree strategically hid any signs of a baby bump. She was also supporting bespoke jewelry by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. But are the rumours of her pregnancy true?
According to reports, the answer is yes. According to The Week, the ‘Fighter’ star is currently in her second trimester. This revelation aligns with recent reports of her decision to withdraw from the HBO show, The White Lotus Season 3. Not only this, but fans were quick to jump to pregnancy conclusion after they noticed a possible ‘bump’ in her Fighter promotions last month.
Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in November 2018 in a picturesque wedding at Lake Como in Italy. The couple recently celebrated their fifth anniversary with a romantic getaway to Belgium in November 2022. Earlier this year, Deepika had revealed her desire to have kids with Ranveer in an interview with Vogue Singapore. She said in the interview that they both love children and look forward to the day they start their own family.
On the work front, Deepika has a number of projects in the pipeline. Deepika was last seen in Fighter, opposite Hrithik Roshan. The actress is rumoured to be a part of White Lotus season 3 and has a number of films lined up, including Kalki 2989 AD with Prabhas. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh will be reprising his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama, Singham Again. Additionally, he is set to headline Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, which will be released in 2025.
