Social media influencer & YouTuber hailing from Punjab, Bhana Singh Sidhu aka Kaka Singh Sidhu was recently arrested by Mohali Police for allegedly seeking extortion, threatening and abusing the owner of an immigration firm in phase 5 of the city. Bhana Singh Sidhu's arrest reportedly came when it was expected that he would be granted bail by the court for which was arrested in a separate case. However, things took a major turn and Bhana Singh Sidhu was arrested by Mohali Police in another case. YouTuber Bhana Singh Sidhu is facing multiple serious charges, however, multiple 'anti-AAP' political leaders have extended their support to him. It is said that Bhana Singh Sidhu was a staunch critic of the Bhagwant Mann government. Keeping the 'political' controversies aside, let's understand who Bhana Singh Sidhu is and what charges he has been facing.
Who is Bhana Singh Sidhu?
Bhana Singh Sidhu is a Punjabi YouTuber and social media influencer who enjoys a massive fan base. On Instagram, Bhana Singh Sidhu enjoys a following of 1 million followers. Bhana also runs a YouTube channel named Chacha Wow Records. Chacha Wow Records has a whopping subscribers of 1.01 million (while writing). Political leaders like Pratap Singh, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, and even Simranjit Singh Mann have extended their support to Bhana Singh Sidhu. As per them, Bhana Sidhu's arrest is politically driven, however, there are multiple accusations and charges against the YouTuber.
As per reports, Bhana Singh Sidhu has been booked for at least eight different cases since 2019, including four cases registered against him over one week this month (January 2024). For the unversed, Bhana Singh Sidhu was arrested on Saturday on charges of extorting a Ludhiana-based immigration agent. Later that day, Sidhu and his brother were booked for extortion by police in Mohali on the complaint of another immigration agent. A case of chain snatching was also registered against Sidhu in Patiala on 22 January. Another case of extortion was registered against him on 26 January in Abohar.
Recently, Bhana Sidhu was brought to Mohali from Patiala jail on a production warrant. Bhana was produced before a local court and following that he was sent to two-day police custody. Police have also booked his brother Amna Sidhu in the case following the complaint of Paramjit Singh of Dhuri, Sangrur.
As per reports, the complainant runs an immigration company under the name 'Highrise Immigration Consultants' in phase 5 and in his hometown, alleged that both the accused had been repeatedly calling him for the past two months for extortion. As per reports, Bhana Singh Sidhu has been booked under sections 294 (obscene acts or words in public), 387 (whoever in order to the committing of extortion, puts or attempts to put any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Phase 1 police station.
It is said that the Youtuber is also a close aide of gangster-turned-social activist Lakha Sidhana.
LoP Pratap Singh Bajwa in a series of tweets had wrote, "Meanwhile, the @AAPPunjab govt in Punjab has been bent upon strangulating the voices of dissent in the state. The YouTuber and social media influencer Bhagwan Singh Bhana Sidhu has been the latest target of the cruel AAP regime."
"Just because he speaks against the anti-people policies of the AAP government in the state, he is being fabricated in one or the other case, which is highly deplorable...The Punjab CM @BhagwantMann who, before becoming CM, used to encourage people to question the political leader, now, after becoming CM, seems to have been rattled by the people's criticism."
