In the words of Elon Musk- 'AI is very dangerous to humans' and recently the curious case of Caryn Marjorie proved it why. A Snapchat influencer Caryn Marjorie had to shut down her AI clone named ' CarynAI' after it went rogue and started to indulge in disturbing X-rated chats & talks with others. As per reports, influencer Caryn Marjorie made an artificial intelligence clone of herself and made $70,000 a week selling access to 'virtual boyfriends' quickly saw her digital alter ego go rogue. As explained by US media portals, men started sharing too much private stuff and their fantasies, and Caryn Marjorie's AI model chatbot was stored in chat logs, and the data was fed back into a machine-learning model, meaning CarynAI was constantly evolving. Now, the question arises who is Caryn Marjorie? Below is all about Caryn Marjorie-

Who is Caryn Marjorie?

As per reports, Caryn Marjorie hails from Beverly Hills, California, United States. In her LinkedIn profile, she has described herself as "a social media influencer with a strong following on Snapchat and YouTube. She has over 200 million monthly viewers on Snapchat and has accumulated over 36 million views and 750,000 subscribers on YouTube, collaborating with top brands such as Neutrogena, Sephora, and Ulta Beauty."

In 2023, Caryn Marjorie released a 'digital version' of herself. Fans and her followers could chat with CarynAI for US$1 per minute – and in the first week alone they spent US$70,000 doing just that. However, less than eight months later, Marjorie shut the project down. Marjorie had expected that CarynAI would chat or talk with her fans in much the same way she would herself, but things did not go to plan.

Marjorie was quoted saying, "A lot of the chat logs I read were so scary that I wouldn’t even want to talk about it in real life."

The influencer's AI was initially hosted by a company called Forever Voices. Users could chat with it over the messaging app Telegram for US$1 per minute. As the CarynAI website explained, users could send text or audio messages to which CarynAI would respond, “using [Caryn’s] unique voice, captivating persona, and distinctive behavior”.

A big red flag was flagged when CarynAI even started prompting s*xualised conversations. After seeing plethora disturbing chats with her AI,  Marjorie sold the rights of usage to her digital version to BanterAI, a startup marketing 'AI phone calls' with influencers. However, Forever Voices maintained its own rogue version of CarynAI until recently, BanterAI’s browser-based version aimed to be more friendly than romantic.
