Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra often grabs the headline, especially during the Parliament Session for pointing out the alleged 'Modi-Adani' partnership. However, TMC Mahua Moitra got embroiled in a massive controversy when BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused her of receiving money and gifts for posing questions targeting Adani & PM Modi in the Parliament. BJP MP Dubey also wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, asking him to constitute an 'inquiry committee' to look into the Mahua Moitra's alleged bribe for query scandal and sought the TMC MP's suspension from the House till the panel submitted its report. Finally, on Thursday, Real State Tycoon Darshan Hiranandani corroborated BJP MP's claims and in an 'unofficial' leaked release admitted that he gave 'expensive luxury items' and other things to Moitra so that she keeps on questioning Adani in the Parliament.

Who is Darshan Hiranandani?
Going by Darshan Hiranandani LinkedIn's profile, the Real Estate Tycon holds an MBA and B.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. "Darshan Hiranandani is credited with taking the group’s real estate business international and diversifying in emerging sectors such as datacenters, cloud computing, energy, and industrial warehousing & logistics," says his LinkedIn profile.
In 2019, Darshan Hiranandani was named the successor of the real estate business empire by his father Niranjan Hiranandani. With a personal net worth of Rs 7,880 crore, Niranjan Hiranandani was ranked sixth in the Grohe Hurun India Real Estate Rich List 2018. He shared the rank with brother Surendra Hiranandani, with whom he co-founded the Hiranandani Group in 1978.
As per reports, Darshan is also a part of the ASSOCHAM (India’s oldest apex trade chamber with 450,000 businesses as members) and chairs several councils for the chamber.
Darshan also serves as a member of board of trustees of his alma mater Rochester Institute of Technology as well as on the board of directors for RIT Dubai. The 42-year-old Real Estate tycoon is on the advisory board of Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board, a not-for-profit organisation that runs 17 colleges and has 45,000 students in Mumbai.
Reports quoted the board of directors of the Hiranandani Group and they informed that Darshan played a pivotal role in setting up the Dr L.H. Hiranandani Hospital (a non-profit) under the Hiranandani Foundation, which won the coveted Ramkrishna Bajaj Award for the best hospital in India.
What did Darshan Hiranandani say on Mahua Moitra?
Darshan Hiranandani although did not release his statement on the company's official letterhead, his remarks supported BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's claims against Mahua Moitra. Darshan Hiranandani in point number 10 claimed-
"Ms. Mahu Moitra was very ambitious and wanted to quickly make a name for herself at the national level. She was advised by her friends and advisors that the shortest possible route to fame is by personally attacking Shri Narendra Modi, the honourable Prime Minister of India. The only problem was that Sh. Modi enjoyed an impeccable reputation and was not giving any opportunity to anyone to attack him in policy, governance or personal conduct. As was her wont, she thought that the only way to attack Sh. Modi is by attacking Sh. Gautam Adani and his group as both were contemporaries, and they belong to the same state of Gujarat."
"She was helped by the fact that the rise of Sh. Gautam Adani had created jealousy and detractors among some sections of businesses, politics and media, both within and outside the country. So she expected support from these sections in her endeavour to malign and embarrass the Prime Minister by targeting Sh. Adani. She knew that Indian Oil Corporation preferring to get into a long term off-take agreement with Dhamra LNG, a joint venture company of the Adani group, and not with my companies. Based on this information, Ms. Moitra drafted a few questions that would have elements to embarrass the Government by targeting the Adani group: questions that she could raise in Parliament. She shared with me her email ID as Member of Parliament, so that I could send her information, and she could raise the questions in the Parliament ! went along with her proposal."
