A. Venu Prasad joined as Additional Chief Secretary to CM designate Bhagwant Mann on Monday. Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann will take oath on 16th March in Khatkar Kalan of Nawanshahr. There will be a change in the officers only after the swearing-in of CM.
This is the first change initiated by Bhagwant Mann’s government. As most of the officers are new, he is appointed due to his expertise in his field.
Earlier, Venu Prasad served as the principal secretary, water resources, power and local government. He was the deputy commissioner of Faridkot from October 1999 to May 2003.

A. Venu Prasad is a 1991 batch officer. He did his MBA and MA in Public Policy from the USA. He is presently Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Govt of Punjab, and Taxation Deptt and has remained the CMD of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. He is an honest and respectable IAS Officer.
