The Manipur women parade video incident has literally jolted India to its core with PM Modi assuring the nation that no culprits will be spared and CM Biren Singh promising to evoke capital punishments for the mob of men who were involved in the inhumane act. While the opposition parties presented a united front and demanded a discussion over the Manipur violence in the Rajya Sabha which forced the speaker to adjourn the session on Thursday. Amidst a political uproar in the nation, one of the accused who is termed the main culprit was arrested on Thursday. The Police released two picture of the main accused after arresting him. He was seen in the video in which a mob of around 900-1,000 men paraded two women in Manipur. As per reports, the main accused has been identified as Huirem Herodas Singh.

For those who are still unaware, the Manipur video incident took place on May 4 and the clip went viral on social media on July 19. Police, after 77 days of the incident, said Thursday morning that the main suspects who can be seen on video was nabbed. In this case, Police officials are carrying out intelligence-based operations to nab the other accused. Now, the question arises who is Huirem Herodas Singh and why is he called the main culprit of the case?

Huirem Herodas Singh was seen wearing a green t-shirt and holding one of the women in the viral video. His proper identification is Huirem Herodas Meitei (32 years) of Pechi Awang Leikai. As per reports, a case of abduction, gangrape and murder has been registered at Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district against unidentified armed persons.

Manipur women paraded case: Main accused arrested in horrific May 4 video incident

As per the FIR registered, three women were paraded without clothes, groped and gangraped on the 4th of May. They were "snatched" from police custody by a mob of 900-1,000 men, made to strip, and were paraded before being gangraped. The brother of one of the victims, as per the FIR, tried to save his sister from the armed mob during which he was murdered in cold blood.
