Almost two years after the accusations and amid multiple lawsuits received and made after the #SpeakingOut campaign, Joey Ryan was captured by fans in a new occupation away from professional wrestling. The Twitter user @Mr_GQ_Cantu captured the fighter a few days ago as one of the caretakers of the "Jungle Cruise" attraction at the Disney amusement park in Orlando, Florida.
The photo captured the attention of several wrestling fans, with mixed reactions and even concern for those close to Ryan. This situation has led to the dismissal of Joey Ryan from his job. As reported on Wednesday that Ryan had worked for three months on the Jungle Cruise attraction on trial. Park officials declined to hire him for a full-time position but also declined to say why.
As many reports indicate that "Disneyland hired a professional wrestler accused of sexual harassment." A spokesman later stated: "Mr Meehan (Joseph Meehan) is no longer employed by us." The spokesman declined to elaborate on why he was not given a permanent job and whether harassment allegations played a role in that decision.
Joey Ryan's last match occurred on June 2, 2020, defeating Crazy Steve at IMPACT Wrestling shortly before his sexual abuse cases came to light. IMPACT would fire Ryan a short time later, receiving a lawsuit for unfair dismissal in response.
