Who is Rajinder Singh? Former DCP likely to be BJP's contender for Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election

Along with being former Jalandhar’s DCP, he has also served as SSP Kapurthala.

Former Jalandhar DCP Rajinder Singh joined BJP on 1st April 2023. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat got him to join the party. Other members present during this were Union Minister for State, Mr Som Prakash, State’s BJP President Mr Ashwini Sharma, Vice President Mr Subhash Sharma, Ex- Minister Mr Manoranjan Kalia, BJP MP Mr Hans Raj Hans.

Talking about Rajinder Singh, along with being former Jalandhar’s DCP, he has also served as SSP, Kapurthala. He is likely to contest for Jalandhar’s Lok Sabha by-election from BJP. 

He has spent almost 95% period of his service in Jalandhar Rural & Urban. During that period, he was closely known to the workers of different parties especially Kartarpur & Adampur constituencies. Being Deputy Commissioner of Police Jalandhar & SSP Kapurthala, he was closely concerned with these constituencies because area of Jalandhar city adjoins Kartarpur & Adampur directly or indirectly.

He monitored all kinds of Elections in Jalandhar Rural & Urban. Rajinder Singh is quite known in Doaba region where he worked from post of SHO to SSP from 1980 to 2020. Apart from this, Rajinder has also served as AIG Intelligence, AIG Law and Order Jalandhar.

He is also Trustee Member of Guru Teg Bahadur Education Trust and Divine Onkar Mission UK. He has also been appointed as Vice President of Surjit Singh Hockey Society, Jalandhar.

Over the past years, Rajinder Singh has maintained close relations with the natives of Jalandhar District.
