The Football world and fans went into shock on Tuesday after a Moroccan football player named Achraf Hakimi was accused of sexual assault when his wife and children were away on a vacation. As per French media, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi was accused of the alleged rape of a 23-year-old woman whom he reportedly invited to his home in France. Achraf Hakimi rape case has started to shock the world as the 24-year-old footballer played a major role in making Morocco the first-ever African nation to play in a FIFA World Cup semi-final in Qatar last year. However, the footballer’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, issued in a statement to Le Parisien on Tuesday saying Hakimi was innocent and the accusation against him is fake. Reportedly, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office is leading the investigation into the Achraf Hakimi sexual assault case. It is pertinent to mention here that the name of the woman cannot be revealed as the investigation is currently going on.
On Tuesday (February 28), the footballer's lawyer Colin became the first member of the PSG superstar’s entourage to address the allegations. She told Le Parisien, "The accusations against him are false. He is calm & will make himself available to the authorities." It has been claimed that the alleged assault took place on Saturday, February 25, at the defender’s home in the Boulogne area of Paris. A police report was filed against the former Real Madrid ace on February 26. The woman whom Hakimi allegedly assaulted reportedly visited the superstar’s home when his wife Hiba Abouk and their boys were in Dubai on vacation. It is pertinent to mention here that PSG are yet to comment on the matter.

Notably, at only 24 years old, Hakimi is one of the most sought-after players in the world. He was most recently named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI, ahead of the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker. It is pertinent to mention here that if the accusations against Hakimi are not proven to be false sooner rather than later, his reputation will be ruined. It could very well mark the end of another bright career in the world of football as PSG may drop him from the squad.
