Legal trouble seems to be mounting upon Ukrainian Singer Uma Shanti who threw the Indian Flag in a crowd during a live concert in Pune. On Sunday, just days ahead of Indian Independence Day, Pune Police filed an FIR against Uma Shanti for allegedly disrespecting the Tricolour in her live show. As per reports, Uma Shanti was in Mundhwa where one of her acts just didn’t go down well with a lot of people. She was spotted waving the Indian flag until she decided to twirl it around and throw it at the crowd. As soon as Uma threw the Tricolour into the crowd her video went viral on social media and netizens were left fuming over her act. As a result, the case against Uma, the lead vocalist of the band Shanti People, was filed by Havaldar Tanaji Deshmukh at the Mundhwa Police station after the video of the alleged crime spread like a wildfire on various social media platforms. Now, the question arises who is Uma Shanti, and why her act brought a lot of flak against her?

Who is Uma Shanti?

As mentioned above Uma Shanti is the lead vocalist of the Ukrainian band Shanti People. As per reports, Shanti People is a music band that mixes EDM (electronic dance music) with Vedic Mantras. Their YouTube Page is also a major hit among the Indian communities with lakhs of subscribers. A report suggests that Shanti People 'offer their urban listener a reboot of consciousness through the expressive mix of modern musical sound and the ancient vibrations of Mantras.'

Based in Ukraine, Shanti people is a band of four with Uma at the steering. Notably, Uma has been facing controversy and legal trouble. They are pure vegetarians and one a vegan. Vedic philosophy, Bhakti Yog and Vedic Mantras inspire them. Their music videos/compositions are based on Mantras, chalisas pertaining to Hindu deities, and mostly pertaining to Sanatana Dharma. Their musical re-creation of Mahisasur Mardini, Shiv Tandav Strotam, Hanuman Chalisa, Durga Chalisa, Mahaganpati Mool Mantra, Gayatri Mantra and on Sita Ram, Kal Bhairava, Shiva Shambho is awe-inspiring.

Talking about Uma Shanti, she is quite popular on social media as well. She has 56.6K followers on Instagram (while writing this writeup) and her social media is filled with trance music focusing on Indian Gods and Goddesses. In fact, Uma's own attire is like a typical Indian in many of her posts.
