Who is Jane Doe? Comedian Russell Brand sued for 'sexually assaulting actress on Arthur film set' -

British comedian Russell Brand is all set to face legal action after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her while filming a movie in 2010. The woman filed a lawsuit against Russell Brand accusing the comedian of exposing himself to her on Arthur set before forcing her to perform sex acts on him in a bathroom stall. As per a UK media report, Russell Brand has been sued by a woman named Jane Doe.

As per the reports, Jane Doe, an actress, was a film extra on the New York City set of the 2011 romantic comedy Arthur when Russell Brand allegedly sexually assaulted her. Not much information is available about Jane Doe. However, Brand has been accused by multiple women of heinous crimes. However, Russell Brand has denied all the allegations against him despite many women coming out in public and accusing him of sex crimes.

It is worth mentioning that despite multiple women having accused Russell Brand no one approached the court, hinting they might have defamed the comedian. However, Jane Doe has legally approached the court. It means Jane Doe's accusation marks the first complaint against Brand leveled in court.

As per reports, Jane Doe's complaint was brought in state court under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which gives accusers a one-year window to sue over alleged sexual abuse even if statutes of limitations have expired. Jane Doe reportedly said she was hired to appear as a cast extra in July 2010.

Going by Jane Doe's complaint, Russell Brand was drunk during production and exposed himself to her as he sat at a table staring at her, "openly and obviously in the presence of everyone on set". Thereafter, Jane Doe claimed Russell Brand followed her into a bathroom where he forced her to perform sex acts on him. The lawsuit further suggested that a production crew member stood directly outside.

Jane in her complaint says that Brand's assault caused "severe psychological injuries" and economic losses. The suit reportedly seeks unspecified monetary damages from the comedian on charges of assault, battery, false imprisonment, and infliction of emotional distress.
