Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted raids at multiple premises linked to AAP MLA Kulwant Singh. Notably, the reason why the ED raided AAP Mla Kulwant Singh's premises is yet to be ascertained.
However, three reasons are being speculated in the media. At first, it was reported that the ED Sleuths carried out raids on the premises of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam, but later it was reported that the central agency carried out searches as part of a drugs-linked money-laundering investigation.
After that, another report suggested that the ED carried out raids in the aftermath of the Punjab Governor's letter to the Punjab CM against the AAP MLA over violation of Environmental laws. However, no confirmation has been received yet regarding the reason.
As per reports, Locations in Mohali, Amritsar, and Ludhiana are being covered by the ED along with an escort of central paramilitary forces personnel. Who is AAP MLA Kulwant Singh?
Kulwant Singh is a businessman and politician who is currently a Member of the Legislative Assembly from SAS Nagar (Mohali). Previously, he was also the Mayor of Mohali (Punjab). Besides being an MLA or politician, Kulwant Singh is a real estate businessman and philanthropist. As per reports, Singh is the Managing Director of Janta Land Promoters Ltd.
Notably, a few days back, Kulwant Singh had come into a controversy when Punjab Governor and Chandigarh administrator Banwarilal Purohit asked Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to take 'strict action' against AAP MLA's real estate company whose two projects are allegedly in violation of environmental norms.
Punjab Governor wrote a letter to CM Bhagwant Mann and reportedly told him about the violation of environment-related regulations by two projects of the MLA’s firm Janta Land Promoters Limited (JLPL) — Super Mega Mixed Use Integrated Industrial Park in Sectors 82-83 and Sector 66-A, and Galaxy Heights, a residential project in Sector 66-A.
